An addition to the code for sustainable homes has been published by the government. The addendum announced on 30 May 2014 brings the code into line with recent regulatory and national guidance changes, especially to Part L of the building regulations.

Central region LABC Building Excellence Awards finalists were among 225 people from the construction industry who attended a ceremony on Friday May 16 at the Jury Inn in Milton Keynes.
Contractors, architects, designers and local authority building control experts from the counties of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire celebrated the region’s outstanding construction standards and technical innovation.
There were 14 winners and eight highly commended projects

London is the latest region to host the LABC Building Excellence Awards. The ceremony at The Guildhall in London was attended by more than 367 people.
Independent developers and volume housebuilders were among the 14 winners and 3 highly commended projects chosen by a panel of industry experts, including local authority building control representatives

LABC has become the latest training partner for BRE in its new BRE Academy venture, which provides world class training and education programmes developed in conjunction with the built environment’s best knowledge providers.
These include universities, colleges and professional bodies that deliver educational programmes based on multi-disciplinary expertise, research and knowledge. The LABC Building Excellence Awards season is now in full swing, with North Wales becoming the second region to stage its regional event. More than 240 people attended the awards at De Vere Village Chester St Davids.
The awards, which are all about the essence of good buildings, started with a speech from Welsh Government Minister for Housing and Regeneration Carl Sargeant AM, who congratulated all the nominees for their success in business and the quality of their building work

LABC’s Building Excellence Awards season has kicked off. Last Friday the North West became the first region to start the 2014 season after staging its event at the Reebok Stadium-based Bolton Whites Hotel in Bolton, Greater Manchester.
More than 600 people attended the awards, which are all about the essence of good buildings, with finalists not judged on architectural beauty, but on the "excellence" shown from a construction and technical building control point of view
