The Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club’s (BHAFC) safety and security team has won an award in recognition of the work it carries out at the sports ground. The team won the Safety & Security category at the Stadium Business Awards held at the Royal Air Force Museum in Hendon.
It beat five other international competitors shortlisted in the Best Safety and Security Team 2014 category, which included Shrewsbury Town Football Club, the Turkish Football Federation, the Netherlands’ FC Twente, Poland’s Lech Poznan and Secure Events & Assets of Australia

LABC has cautiously welcomed new measures announced in the Queen’s Speech today, which will allow small housing developments to be exempt from some zero carbon homes requirements.
Outlining the government’s legislative agenda for the year ahead, the Queen told parliament that an infrastructure bill will make it possible for developers to “offset” the carbon emissions of new homes after construction to meet zero carbon standards that come into force from 2016.
The measures will enable small developers to meet their carbon emissions targets by means other than very highly insulated construction and onsite renewable technologies, although much will depend on the finer detail

An addition to the code for sustainable homes has been published by the government. The addendum announced on 30 May 2014 brings the code into line with recent regulatory and national guidance changes, especially to Part L of the building regulations.
Development schemes registered after 6 April 2014 have to comply with a different set of building requirements

Central region LABC Building Excellence Awards finalists were among 225 people from the construction industry who attended a ceremony on Friday May 16 at the Jury Inn in Milton Keynes.
Contractors, architects, designers and local authority building control experts from the counties of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire celebrated the region’s outstanding construction standards and technical innovation.
There were 14 winners and eight highly commended projects

London is the latest region to host the LABC Building Excellence Awards. The ceremony at The Guildhall in London was attended by more than 367 people.
