Charges

What does building control cost?

Local authorities charge for carrying out the statutory building control functions relating to the Building Regulations.

Local authorities use a scale of charges that can vary according to the scale, complexity and volume of a project.

For example, domestic extensions are priced differently to whole new dwellings, housing estates, retail parks or high rise commercial buildings. Each local authority fixes and publishes its own charges.
