Q: What is the LABC Registered Details Scheme?

A: Registered Details it is a scheme which enable developers, architects, designers, technical specifies and contractors to register or use existing design details to minimise the building control checking and approvals process. You may know Registered Details by its old name, Type Approval.

Q: What is the benefit of having something registered with LABC?

A: Registered Details enables all Local Authority Building Control Surveyors to share technical details with each other. This means that once a Registration has been given, it will be recognised by all LABC surveyors in England and Wales. The scheme is specifically designed for use within the LABC network.

The benefit for our customers is that the use of Registered Details streamlines Building Regulations applications saving time and money. LABC is not a testing house and does not provide certification - in fact, submissions will be required to demonstrate technical performance and achievement of recognised standards by supplying test certificates and other proofs of performance. Through Registered Details, LABC will measure a design, system or solution against the Building Regulations and judge whether, if used correctly in the defined way, compliance with the Building Regulations will be achieved.

Q: How do I apply for Registered Details?

A: Please complete the Registered Details Application Form available on our website by clicking here. If you are experiencing difficulties with the form call us on 020 7091 6860 and we will be able to assist you.

Q: What if I need information about an old System/Type Approval?

A: Please contact the Registered Details Team by sending an email to rd@labc.uk.com or call 020 7091 6865. If possible please provide the certificate number.

Q: Where can I find information about my company's current Registered Detail?

Q: How can I find out if my 'product' qualifies for the scheme?

A: Contact the Registered Details Team by email at rd@labc.uk.com with your initial enquiry and some basic technical information regarding your system/solution or building. You can also call us on 020 7091 6865.

Q: I have an LABC Registered Details Certificate and would like to use the LABC Logo. Do I have permission to do this?

A: The LABC Registered logo and guidance should be sent to you by email when you receive final certification. If you have not received your electronic copy of the logo, let us know via email rd@labc.uk.com.

Q: My certificate is due to expire. What should I do?

A: LABC will contact you when the registration is due for renewal, however, responsibility for continued compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation and renewal of LABC Registered Details Certification lies with the certificate holder.
