SAP

Standard Assessment Procedure

SAP is the UK Government's recommended method system for measuring the energy rating of residential dwellings. It calculates typical annual energy costs for space, lighting, water heating and calculates CO2 emissions.

LABC Consult's team of SAP assessors are accredited Domestic On Construction SAP Assessors. Full SAP is the adopted method for proving compliance with the Building Regulations Approved Document L1A for new build dwellings.

In addition to new build dwellings certain extensions and conversions also require a SAP calculation to prove compliance; for example where the intended glazing exceeds 25% of the extension floor area or where a building undergoes a change of use such as a barn conversion.

Working in accordance with the Government's latest Standard Assessment Procedure for Energy Rating of Dwellings [SAP 2009] we can advise you on the most advantageous methods of construction and compliance.

All new dwellings must now prove compliance at design stage. LABC Consult can provide you with the Design SAP and Compliance Checklists for all new dwellings along with a simple material checklist to simplify the process.

On completion of the build, the property will need to be air tested and an As Built SAP completed to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations – LABC Consult can assist you with both As Built SAPs and Air Pressure testing.

What sets LABC Consult apart from its competitors is our experience in the design and construction field and the fact that most of our assessors are practising Building Control Surveyors with years of experience, so our practical construction knowledge allows the SAP assessment to dovetail into the overall design process.
